keep passwords safe

We have all been guilty of setting a simple easy password. Maybe throwing in a !,@ or a few extra numbers. Many of us rotate our passwords changing the last numbers and using the same password for multiple accounts.

Jeff Goldberg, Chief Defender Against The Dark Arts (what a great job title) at 1Password says:

“People are terrible at being random, especially when they are trying to be random.”

This makes our passwords easy to crack, especially for computers.

The likelihood of someone hacking you as an individual is slim. However, people do hack the companies we trust and use: social media accounts, video streaming services, payment sites and organisational emails. They then use this information to hack across our digital footprint.

This is why at VirtualOps I use LastPass to communicate and share passwords, credit information and other confidential data. Ensuring that when we share this data it is encrypted, controlled and always protected.

Never used a password manager before? Then don’t worry, it’s really simple and I will provide you with all the guides on how to set-up and use it.

Why I love LastPass:

  • It’s free for you to use.
  • I don’t see your passwords when you share them with me.
  • You stay in control with what I have access too and only need to share what’s relevant.
  • Revoking access is easy so you can stop sharing at any time.
  • It works on all platforms including Windows, Mac, Linux, IOS and Android.
  • Saving, changing and creating secure passwords is the click of a button!

LastPass doesn’t only have to be used for when you share your passwords while we work together but it will make your digital life safer and better protect you and your business.

Password manager’s like LastPass aren’t 100% hack-proof and there are ways to get to your passwords but using a password manager is more secure than that excel spreadsheet or Password123!
